About

Parish Nursing supports people and communities to whole person healthcare.

We do not aim to do what your GP or nurse would do, but to complement it, and the one precious thing that Parish Nursing can offer you is time! Time to let you explain and to understand your health issues and to offer support through our volunteers or through connecting you with existing activities or groups. This could be in your home or elsewhere. We have a Parish Nurse and a Parish Occupational Therapist, as well as unqualified, but DBS checked volunteers, including Nurse Specialists who focus on mental health and Diabetes.

Parish Nursing can help tackle health issues in our local community and help reduce isolation, prevent ill-health, deterioration, or oversee recovery by providing additional support to individual carers and groups.

We are very concerned with the whole of you –body, mind and spirit –so if you want prayer support as well, we would be very happy to do that.

Examples of support, but not limited to, include:

  • Support for the physical, mental, social and spiritual health of individuals
  • Health promotion and screening
  • Personal health advice
  • Advocacy support
  • Health education
  • Training and supporting of volunteers
  • Help with understanding medical information, diseases and conditions
  • Increasing and maintaining safety and independence in the home
  • Prayer

Support from Parish Nursing is available to anyone in the area of Capel St Mary regardless of age, background or beliefs.

Parish nursing complements the NHS but does not duplicate it, so we are unable to undertake, among other things, the following tasks.

  • Dressings
  • Blood tests
  • Injections
