Dementia Cafe

Daphne’s Dementia Café

Daphne’s Café – a Dementia café in Capel St Mary for those living with Dementia, which includes family and friends. A place to meet and make friends, to relax and/or take part in activities. These might include singing, simple crafts, exercise sessions, group games, table top activities and education sessions for carers.

We meet in Capel Library on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, from 2pm – 4pm. There is no charge, but we suggest a donation of £1 for refreshments.

You may wonder why we’ve called it Daphne’s café. We sadly lost a dear friend, Daphne (‘Daf’) Blazey to dementia in 2018, hence Daphne’s or Daf’s Café. Daphne was a long-time resident of Capel, for many years delivering Meals on Wheels, helping with the Luncheon Club at the Methodist Church and with Playgroup, Cub Scout Mistress, School Governor and Parish Council Member. So you see it is with much respect that we wanted to call our café after Daphne.

We are grateful to Suffolk Community Foundation - in particular to the Dementia Friendly Communities Fund and to Daphne’s family, for their financial support for the café.
